Reception of applications for Kazan International Muslim Film Festival is still in progress

 

On February 1, submission for the XX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival started. The submission will last till June 1, 2024. The Selection Committee will finish its work by the beginning of July. After this, the official selection will be announced.

“This Is What I Rememeber” (Esimde) by Aktan Arym Kubat, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Netherland, France, 2022, 105’

 

Synopsis:

The film “Esimde” tells a tragic story of turned into an amnesiac old man Zarlyk who after twenty-three years of ordeal in a foreign land, returns to his homeland. Events take place in a village in Kyrgyzstan, where he is brought by his matured son Kubat.

Biography:

 

Born in Kuntuu village, Kyrgyzstan in 1957. Graduated from Kyrgyz State Art School in 1980. In 1993 has shot first short fiction film “The Swing” and won the best prize at Locarno IFF. Participant at many international film festivals and multiply awarded. Member of European Film Academy, Asian Pacific Screen Academy.
