Synopsis.

The art of carpet weaving has a long history in Kyrgyzstan and is an integral part of everyday life. BLACK RED YELLOW follows the talented carpet weaver Turdugul, who, as a nomad, travels from one commission to the next, becoming part of her clients’ lives for a few weeks at a time. When Turdugul meets Kadyr, an unhappily married shepherd, during one of her commissions, they fall in love. It is an encounter Turdugul cannot forget. Decades later, she sets out on a final journey into the past.

About director & script-writer Aktan Arym Kubat:

 

Aktan Arym Kubat was born in 1957 in Sokuluk, Kyrgyzstan. Graduated from Kyrgyz State Art School in 1980. Worked as set designer, production designer and in 1990 debuted as film director with short documentary “The Dog Was Running”. In 1993 has shot first short fiction film “The Swing” and in 1998 fiction feature “The Adopted Son”. Participant of various international film festivals and multiply awarded.  ACTING MEMBER OF THE EUROPEAN ACADEMY OF ARTS. ACTING MEMBER OF ASIAN PACIFIC SCREEN ACADEMY. Chevalier dans l’Ordre des arts et des lettres (french republic).
