A Voice That Echoes in Silence: A Voice That Echoes in Silence

The film “Sleep of Reason”, directed by Kyrgyz filmmaker and film critic Talgar Zamir-Seit, has been nominated for the Toronto Global Film Festival (Canada).

Shot on the Kamchatka Peninsula (Palana, “KoryakFilm”), the movie is a co-production between Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Uzbekistan, and Russia, and was filmed entirely on a mobile phone, giving it a distinctive documentary authenticity and visual sincerity.

The film is a mystical noir drama about a young woman who discovers mysterious tapes containing other people’s dreams. As she delves deeper, she becomes entangled in their hidden fears and secrets — until she realizes her own life might be nothing more than someone else’s dream.

The festival will take place in Toronto, Canada, from December 20 to 22, 2025.

The festival’s founder and director is Azar Faramarzi.

Talgar Zamir-Seit (Zamirbekov) is a well-known Kyrgyz cultural figure, film critic, and director. He is the founder of “KoryakFilm” in the Koryak district (Palana, Russia), co-founder of “Selkinchek” and “Seit_critic” projects, a participant and laureate of international film festivals, and the author of several acclaimed short films and books.

Festival slogan: “A festival for voices that deserve to be heard.”
