Greetings from the Dhaka International Film Festival
The 21st Dhaka International Film Festival’ (DIFF) will be held in Dhaka from 14 to 22 January 2023. The festival has been organized on a regular basis by Rainbow Film Society, which has been dedicated to the promotion of a healthy cine culture in Bangladesh and in celebrating the global mainstream in film and its social relevance since 1977.
During the 21st DIFF, we are going to screen about 260 films, with participation from around 70 countries. The festival will have a competition for “Asian Cinema Competition Section”, “Retrospective”, “Wide Angle”, “Tribute”, “Bangladesh Panorama Section”, “Cinema of the World Section”, “Children Films Section”, “Women Filmmakers Section”, “Short and Independent Films Section” and “Spiritual Films Section”.
All the film screenings will be held at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Bangladesh National Museum Auditorium, Alliance Francaise de Dhaka and Star Cineplex.
Just like the previous years, Rainbow Film Society in association with the Department of Women and Gender Studies, Dhaka University is expecting numbers of women film_makers, actors and personalities from all over the world to attend our very important segment - “Ninth Dhaka International Conference on Women in Cinema 2023”. This conference will be held at the Dhaka Club Samson Lounge 2nd floor, Shahbag, Dhaka on Sunday 15 January and Monday 16 January, 2023 during the festival.
Objective:
To improve the standard and content of women-based cinema and also to create an interaction among the women who are involved in the medium of cinema through exchanging ideas and sharing diverse experiences.
