On February 1, submission for the XX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival started. The submission will last till June 1, 2024. The Selection Committee will finish its work by the beginning of July. After this, the official selection will be announced.

Moscow International Film Festival: Special program devoting 90 anniversary of famous Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov 

 

40th Moscow International Film festival will be held on April 19-26, 2018. Special program devoting 90 anniversary of famous Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov include four films: Heat, The White Ship, Red Apple, The First Teacher (Sri Lanka).

 

 

 

Heat, Kyrgyzfilm, 75', 1963, director Larisa Shepitko, film based on novel written by Chingiz Aitmatov "Camel Eye"

Synopsis. Kemel, a 17-year-old school graduate, travels into an isolated part of the virgin steppes. He joins Abakir’s team, which is governed by very authoritative rules of the leader. Kemal with his youthful maximalism and innocence tips the balance…

The White Ship, Kyrgyzfilm, 101', 1975, director Bolot Shamshiev, film based on novel written by Chingiz Aitmatov "The White Ship".
Synopsis. A 7-year-old boy and six adults live in an isolated forest. The boy is lonely. The place of his parents is take up by old Momun, an expert in folk tales.  In the mind of the impressionable boy the world of fairy-tales and wonderful legends collides with the cruel reality of the adult world.

Red Apple, Kyrgyzfilm, 83', 1975, director Tolomush Okeev, film based on novel written by Chingiz Aitmatov "Red Apple".
Synopsis. Temir sees an uncommonly beautiful girl, falls in love with her from afar, secretly watching her in the crowd. But his lofty feelings are shattered by the prose of everyday life. He tries to give the girl a red apple, the symbol of his dream of happiness, but his move is met with misunderstanding and even enmity. Several years after the devastating incident, which he still cannot forget, the character starts a “normal” life, starts a family, attempts to achieve harmony between the past and the present.
 
 
 
The First Teacher, Sri Lanka, 99', 2015, director Upali Gamlath, film based on novel written by Chingiz Aitmatov "The First Teacher".
Synopsis. Altynai is an orphan girl living in a remote mountain area. Though she is in her youth, Altynai never got a chance to have a proper education.  With the founding of a new administrative structure, the government mediates to establish the education system in the rural areas. One day, Duishen an attractive stranger comes to the village to provide education facilities for the children in the village. He starts a school in the village. Young Altynai also joins the school to study. Together with the other ordinary villagers who don't know the value of education, both aunt and uncle of Altynai also try to destroy the school. Altynai tries her best to continue with her studies amid of all the hardships she faces. Meanwhile Altynai falls in love with Duishen.
