On February 1, submission for the XX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival started. The submission will last till June 1, 2024. The Selection Committee will finish its work by the beginning of July. After this, the official selection will be announced.

Short fiction In Between made by Sharofat Arabova will be shown at Forth Art-House film festival 
 
Forth Art-House film festival will be held in Kyrgyzstan (23 - 27.08.2013). We are beginning to present the films which will be shown at the event. We present the short fiction "In Between" made by Sharofat Arabova from Tadjikistan.  

 

IN BETWEEN  

Synopsis. 

The story revolves around migrant people inhabiting Indian metropolis.  In spite of their origins they are all foreigners: someone more, someone less, being ‘strangers’ in the land they came to occupy to find human happiness.  The Russian dancer come model Marina, a South Indian guy Balan, Nepali teenage girl Ayushi and her mother struggle with the identities they belong to in the new world stuck ‘in between’.

Sharofat Arabova, 28 years old:

 



Born in Samarkand in Uzbekistan, grown up and brought up in Dushanbe in Tajikistan, Sharofat Arabova consists mix of bloods and diversity of cultures in herself. The process of self-discovery and her origins are being main theme of her works. Having an artistic background from Tajik State Artistic college by name of M.Olimov (2001), she studied Cultural studies in Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University in Dushanbe. She came to cinema through theater, being a costume-designer and a production-designer for a ballet ‘Egyptian nights’ in Tajik State Academic Theater by name of S.Ayni and journalism, being a special reporter of a tajik newspaper writing on films and cultural events. She was honored a scholarship of Indian Council for Cultural Relations in 2007 to study film direction in Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. She is an Asian Film Academy (AFA) 2012 alumni. ‘In Between’ is her Diploma film in FTII. Sharofat Arabova is currently a PhD student researching history of Tajik cinema.
