Locarno hosts International film festival
Locarno, Switzerland, hosted the 63d International film festival in August, 4-14. The following Kyrgyz films took part in the festival: Ayalzat (dir. Nurlan Asanbekov), Princess Nazik (dir. Erkin Saliyev), Zholbakan (dir. Elnura Osmonaliyeva).
Kyrgyzstan, also, presented its new film by Aktan Arym Kubat "Light thief". This film will be rented in France, German, Holland, Japan and Canada. The movie director expresses his confidence that the number of countries buying his movie will be increasing. In Kyrgyzstan, the prime opening of the film is due autumn, 2010. "Light thief" will be presented even at the remotest parts of the country. The festival ended with new contract that Aktan Arym Kubat was able to manage with French producers for the production of the new film.
International film festival in Locarno is among the top five, the most prestigious festivals of Europe. It invites famous European producers who are interested in Central Asia and would like to invest into cinema production development of this region.
