KinoClub in Bishkek

Question: What is KinoClub?

Reply: KinoClub is a creative community. The essence of the club is to give its participants an opportunity to express their ideas and themselves through the filmmaking. In the course of work someone can fulfill his acting talent, someone will claim to be a director, and of course the other valuable professions in the movie are enough. The main thing in the club is the evening leisure, during which the participants combine business with pleasure.

Question: Who can be a member of the Club?

Reply: Anyone who is interested in the world of cinema can become a member. Basically, people come to us with a camera or they would like to learn montage process and after that they begin being tightened into the overall process of the film-creating. Although everyone can come to the Club, we try not to take just anyone. He must go a little interview to reveal his propensities and interests.

Question: How the Club distinguishes from the specialized agencies or the master classes?

Reply: We are not some kind of school or educational institution; we're just sharing experience in the creation. However, we provide the course "the art of cinema" led by a professional playwright Mayak Aysstrbai for our members, the only thing is that it goes as a friendly division of experience rather than instruction. As for me, I am a graduate of 6th master class of Ernest Abdyjaparov, I’ve been working in the filmmaking since 2012, not so much compared to the masters of the movie, but during this time I noticed that each "stream" of filmmakers repeat the same mistakes or at least come up with the same ideas. We wanted to fix the minimum and move on, find something new and unique.

Question: If it is not a school or courses, what is the format of the Club?

Reply: The format of our meetings is interactive, no one is silent, and everyone speaks! Even if it’s nonsense, the main thing is to express yourself. Only later we begin to improve the ideas. We meet 3 times a week from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, talking about the filmmaking, watching good movies, sometimes we play games; a total period lasts 1 month, each week is scheduled by the subject, thus we meet at free recitals, but still we do it in a certain format in order to maximize creative growth. At the end of the month the group shoots a short film, and everyone gets the ID number of the club member. In the future, they will be able to participate in our closed events.

Question: What achievements are behind the Club’s activity at this period?

Reply: We started quite recently – in May of this year, but we’ve been "spinning" in the filmmaking long before. As soon as we set the first group, the Club began its “breathing and appearing”, the participants were shy at first, they didn’t understand what was happening, but they all became one family in a month, they were able to express themselves and –most importantly - to create something that will remain after them. The group has shot short film titled "The corn". It turned out to be positive and very excitable movie at the same time. We are now working with the second group but the first one is already going to shoot the second film in Issyk-Kul.

Question: What is the technical base of the Club?

Reply: We collaborate with the Studio Aknurfilm, which has all the equipment for cinema, and we also opened a sound recording studio in it, so we can say we provide our members with everything necessary.

Question:If I may say so, what you're applying for in the future?

Reply:Imagine friends who gather in a circle and discuss an idea, then they implement it and may God succeed. Such meetings are thousands every day in some place. We also gather and discuss ideas, but we would like to have some kind of format or even algorithm in order not to repeat the same work and, as I said earlier, move on. This requires the team and set mechanism of action, we already have one group. So, we can say, we’re applying for improvement of the cinema quality in our country and that’s all.
