On February 1, submission for the XX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival started. The submission will last till June 1, 2024. The Selection Committee will finish its work by the beginning of July. After this, the official selection will be announced.

TASFIYA by Sharofat Arabova is nominee for Ak Ilbirs Award in the section "The Best Central Asian film"
 

TASFIYA based on the novel “Jealousy” by Timur Zulfikarov, fiction, HD, 70 min, 2014

Synopsis: More than 50 years back in a stony set of a remote mountainous village somewhere in Tajikistan the lovers called Shams and Mekhri used to travel. Mekhri pulled by a transient eclipse breaks an oath of marital faithfulness that overnight transforms Sham’s life into a farcical puppet show, leading to a murder of his spouse. Unable to take the burden of the committed sin, Shams stands on a path of repentance trying to cleanse his fault by serving people that is followed by the meeting with his own “Ego”.

SHAROFAT ARABOVA born in Samarkand in Uzbekistan, grown up and brought up in Dushanbe in Tajikistan, Sharofat Arabova consists mix of bloods and diversity of cultures in herself. The process of self-discovery and her origins are being main theme of her works. Having an artistic background from Tajik State Artistic college by name of M.Olimov (2001), she studied Cultural studies in Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University in Dushanbe. She came to cinema through theater, being a costume-designer and a production-designer for a ballet ‘Egyptian nights’ in Tajik State Academic Theater by name of S.Ayni and journalism, being a special reporter of a tajik newspaper writing on films and cultural events. She was honored a scholarship of Indian Council for Cultural Relations in 2007 to study film direction in Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. She is an Asian Film Academy (AFA) 2012 alumni. ‘In Between’ is her Diploma film in FTII. Sharofat Arabova is currently a PhD student researching history of Tajik cinema.
